Frequently asked questions

  • How much does a mobility scooter cost?

If you're an RAA member, most Shoprider mobility scooters will cost between $3000 and $6000 when you use your member discount.

Entry level mobility scooters may be cheaper, but they have less range and power than our premium models. So, if you live in a hilly area, or travel longer distances, consider buying a premium model.

Visit our online store for the latest pricing.

  • How can I buy a mobility scooter on an NDIS-approved plan?

Aged care, home care and NDIS approved plan holders can purchase mobility scooters through RAA. Simply request our staff to organise an invoice by calling 1800 251 254 or visiting an RAA Shop.

  • How often should I service my mobility scooter?

Shoprider (the brand we sell at RAA) recommends that you get your scooter serviced every six months. This can help to prolong the life of your scooter and maintain its reliability.

Shoprider mobility scooters can be serviced at our Mile End workshop, or we can come to you if you live in metro Adelaide. RAA members receive a discount on servicing and parts for Shoprider models.

Mobile servicing is subject to the suitability and safety of the location as determined by RAA. Mobile servicing and pick-up/drop-off service is available in metropolitan Adelaide only. Additional fees will apply if you require RAA to pick up/drop off your scooter from your home for a major service at our Mile End workshop.
  • Can I take a mobility scooter on public transport in Adelaide?

Adelaide Metro branded buses, trains and trams now have ramps that can help you board.

Some scooters though may be too large to use on public transport.

If you'd like to use your mobility scooter on public transport, you can read more about size requirements and planning your journey on the Adelaide Metro website.

Do I need a driver's licence to drive a mobility scooter?

We've put together some advice if you use a mobility scooter, or you're in the market to buy one.
