You need to pass a vehicle safety inspection to drive a taxi, Uber or DiDi in South Australia.* The SA Government has authorised us to inspect taxi and rideshare vehicles. These inspections take place at our workshop in Mile End.
Taxi and rideshare inspections usually take less than one hour.

Recheck inspection
If your car doesn’t pass an inspection, you will need to get the problem fixed. You can then book a recheck inspection.
A recheck inspection must happen at the same place as your first inspection.

Defect (red label) inspection
If you've been given a ‘direction to present’, you may not be able to take passengers until the defect is removed.
Defects can include an issue with the car’s body, signage, camera, taxi meter and cleanliness.
Once the issue is fixed, you can book a ‘Red label direction to present’ inspection with us to get the defect removed.$55 for RAA members

How it works

Ensure that your car is eligible
If you're planning to drive for a rideshare company like Uber or DiDi, your vehicle must meet minimum requirements. These can be found on their websites.

Book your inspection online
Select your inspection type, choose your time and pay online. It's easy and takes less than five minutes.

Arrive at the RAA workshop
You can park your car in our front carpark at 101 Richmond Road, Mile End. Once you arrive, head into the RAA Shop to check in.

Get back on the road
If your car meets all the requirements of a taxi or rideshare inspection, you'll be back on the road in an hour. We will upload your completed inspection directly to the SA Government portal.

How long does a taxi or rideshare inspection take?
Taxi and rideshare inspections take up to an hour to complete. Arriving on time or slightly early can help make sure that you are back on the road as soon as possible.

What qualifications do RAA inspectors have?
All inspectors have at least 5 years of experience and hold a full Australian trade qualification.

Does RAA offer inspections on electric and hybrid vehicles?
