We’re excited to announce we’re partnering with the global insurance firm Allianz’s Australian business so we can deliver more benefits and insurance products for our members in the future.
Under the partnership, our insurance products and services will stay right here in SA under our trusted RAA brand.
Of course, we’ll still be local – whether you’re making a claim or taking out an insurance policy – you can still speak to a South Australian.
As a local insurer, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to shield our members from the global challenges in the insurance industry.
We’re a small player on a global stage and having all our risk in South Australia means it’s getting harder for us to deliver the value and benefits our members have come to trust when they insure with RAA.
By joining forces, Allianz Australia will underwrite our insurance policies so we can give you the best bang for your buck and secure a stronger future for your RAA.
This partnership only relates to RAA’s Insurance business. All other businesses, including Roadside Assistance, RAA Travel, RAA Energy and others are not directly impacted by this partnership.
Frequently asked questions
-
What is the arrangement between RAA and Allianz?
We’ve joined forces with global insurance firm Allianz’s Australian business under a 20-year partnership that will see them underwrite RAA Insurance policies under the trusted RAA brand.
Of course, we’ll still be local – whether you’re making a claim or taking out an insurance policy – you’ll still be speaking to a South Australian.
At RAA, being a small player on a global stage and having all our risk in South Australia means it’s getting harder for us to deliver the value and benefits you’ve come to trust when you insure with RAA.
The partnership will help strengthen RAA’s future, enabling us to reduce our risk exposure and deliver more value for members. Importantly, RAA will remain a member-based organisation.
-
What’s in it for members?
We’ve heard our members loud and clear—you love being insured with RAA, but global pressures on the insurance industry means premium increases are hitting hard.
By partnering with Allianz, we can give you the best bang for your buck and set up RAA for a stronger future—one where we can deliver greater value and benefits to you.
Of course—we’ll still be local. You’ll still have access to trusted and quality insurance products and services. And when you call to take out an insurance policy or make a claim, you can still talk to a South Australian.
-
Will members notice any changes?
If you have insurance with us, this won’t change your premium, nor your level of cover. However, as always, policies and premiums may change upon renewal.
You can expect to receive the same high level of service and support you’ve come to expect from RAA.
-
If I’m an insurance policyholder, will I still be an RAA member?
Yes, all RAA Insurance policyholders will remain members of RAA.
-
Will this partnership change my insurance premium?
This partnership will not change your existing insurance premium and includes pricing protections to ensure any future renewal increases are in line with market averages.
-
Will this impact my current insurance claim?
If you have a claim underway, that will progress as usual.
-
Will my discounts still apply?
All discounts will continue to be in place for existing policies and, as always, policies and premiums may change upon renewal.
-
When does this come into effect?
We expect to be partnering with Allianz from the middle of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions.
-
Why does RAA Insurance need to partner with another insurance provider?
This is not new for RAA. Throughout our 100-year history in insurance, RAA has partnered with a range of providers for about 80 of those years to deliver quality and trusted insurance products for our members.
As a local insurer, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to shield our members from the global challenges in the insurance industry.
It makes sense to again join forces with a trusted insurance provider with global backing – so we can give you more bang for your buck and set RAA up for a stronger future of delivering more for members.
